Mindful Eating Program Q & A

What is a mindful eating program?

Cassale Sherriff takes a holistic approach in all of her weight loss plans, but especially with her mindful eating programs.

She helps you understand the depth of your appetite and that the kinds of cravings you experience don’t just stem from biology and chemistry; underlying emotional, psychological, and lifestyle issues often amplify your urges for unhealthy foods and binges. Possible underlying causes include:

  • Childhood patterns of eating
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Sleep deprivation
  • Depression
  • Self-esteem
  • Unhealthy “reward” snacking habits
  • Malnourishment

What are the benefits of mindful eating?

There are many benefits to supervised mindful eating programs, but empowering you through awareness and education is the key. Knowledge of your damaging habits and a science-based plan tailored to you and monitored by specialists promote success. Other benefits include:

  • Being able to find your touch points in the body for hunger, fullness, body satiety & taste satiety
  • Looking at cravings, triggers and cycles of binge or emotional eating
  • Finding alternative sources of emotional relief
  • Longer boost in energy levels
  • Weight loss
  • Reduced risk of diabetes and other conditions
  • Improved overall well-being

How does mindful eating work?

One-on-one counseling sessions uncover and address underlying emotional and lifestyle issues that trigger emotional eating.

We build into your daily routine a meditation practice and mindful eating, integrating the weekly content of each meeting, working on hunger awareness, fullness of the stomach, body satiety, taste satiety, what is driving cravings, triggers to eat and the cycles of emotional eating. Most of the exercises use mediation therapy with food so we can learn to eat different types of foods slowly, enjoying each bite and really trying to start to eat like a connoisseur, for quality and not quantity.

The mindful eating program is woven through all of our other weight loss programs so can be taken as a single program or you can match it with any one of our dietary protocols.
