You ARE Worth It! 5 Tips For Enhancing Your Self-Esteem

A healthy self-esteem is a starting point for a happy life. Unfortunately, our weight and body image are intimately related to our self-esteem. When we are struggling with our weight we often say things to ourselves that we would never say to a friend or stranger. As a result, we let our negative thoughts keep us from reaching our true potential. Why does this matter? Because your thoughts are truly powerful!

It All Starts With Your Beliefs

Most people have heard the statement, “If you can dream it, you can do it,” but few people actually take it to heart. For some reason big goals seem unattainable and an “I can’t” mentality takes over. This is especially true if you have a lot of weight to lose, the “I can’t” mentality can undermine your success.

While everyone experiences negative thoughts from time to time, you may need to make an extra effort to get through these challenges. Positive thoughts will be victorious in the end!

5 Tips For Enhancing Your Self-Esteem

There are small steps and tasks that you can do daily for yourself to boost your self-esteem. Try following these six strategies to help you get on the right track and develop a healthy self-esteem:

1. Ignore negativity from others and don’t let anyone stand in your way. For some reason, many people get into the habit of putting others down. Don’t listen! Don’t let their negatively seep into your thoughts. I know it’s hard, especially when it comes from someone you care about or respect, but only you know what’s in your heart, what’s best for you and your dreams.

2. Learn to accept compliments. We so often undermine ourselves by shrugging off compliments, making little of them or even arguing about them. Next time someone compliments you, say “thank you” or “Thanks, I appreciate that” even if you don’t believe it yourself. Accepting compliments will help you discover what you’re good at and strengthen your self-confidence.

3. Find a life coach who can help you live your life to its fullest potential. There are many life coaches who work online or in your local community. Their role is to help you see your best self and to develop ways you can stop standing in your own way.

4. Use affirmations. Affirmations are great self-esteem boosters because they show your brain what you already know you can achieve. They bring positive energy into the present moment.

Here are a few positive affirmations that I like:

I’m on the road to fitness and health.

I have an abundance of power to make change within myself.

I choose what I eat wisely and I listen to my body. I’m at my ideal weight and I enjoy good health. I look and feel amazing!

5. Avoid comparing yourself to others. You are unique, there is only one of you and no one is like you. Comparing yourself to others only allows negativity to seep in. The best thing for you is to concentrate on developing your own strengths and following your gifts.

When you begin to see yourself as a unique, talented, beautiful person, the number on the scale will not matter, you can take control of your thoughts and your dreams and begin to easily achieve them. I want you to realize how amazing you are and to let that be the focus of your thoughts while you actively get happier and more healthy.
